Cybersecurity Standards Manager

Emerson has been a long-term participant in the development
of the process industry s cybersecurity standards, as a founding participant of
the ISA99 cybersecurity standard through its development and publication as the
IEC 62443 family of cybersecurity standards.

The Cybersecurity Standards
Manager will fully participate in the ongoing development and refinement of the
IEC 62443 family of standards and work with the broader PSS organization to
ensure adoption in product development, engineering practices, and certification

Additionally, the Cybersecurity
Standards Manager will be responsible for communicating externally to customers
about Emerson s cybersecurity solutions capabilities though white papers,
publishing articles in industry media, and blog postings.

The Cybersecurity Standards
Manager will have the opportunity to travel to present at relevant process
industry cybersecurity conferences.


The responsibilities of this role will include
but not be limited to the following:

  • Fully participate in the
    development of at least two ISA/IEC 62443 standards documents, and provide
    comments/ballot responses to all ISA/IEC 62443 documents released for comment
    or vote. Also become the lead editor of one of the ISA/IEC 62443 documents.
  • Work with the broader marketing and
    technology organization to review new product requirements definitions to meet
    the IEC standards for the control system solution.
  • Support the technology organization
    in the maintenance of the cybersecurity manual for the control system to ensure
    it meets the standards/certification requirements.
  • Work with the broader PSS
    organization in all IEC 62443 certification activities for the DeltaV control
    system and its associated engineering practices and certification requirements
    for deployment and maintenance processes.
  • Support other Emerson business
    units in educating them on the IEC 62443 standards and assisting them in the
    incorporation of those standards in their system architecture and product
  • Communicate to customers in the
    process industry Emerson s cybersecurity capabilities and strengths through
    write papers, articles, and presentations.
  • Submit abstracts to present at
    process industry conferences when cybersecurity is a significant agenda item.

Additional Information:

This position will require 10-25% travel.



BS Engineering
(Electrical or Computer Engineering Preferred) or BS Computer Science.

6+ years of experience with sale, design, implementation, or support of
cybersecurity solutions; or 6+ years of experience with the sale, design,
implementation, or life cycle support of process automation and control

Special Skills:

This position requires
strong written communication skills with the ability to take highly technical
cybersecurity content and make it accessible to a customer with little
cybersecurity experience such that they can apply the information to meet their
own internal system requirements.

Familiarity with
cybersecurity standards and initiatives, or, practical work experience related
to the implementation of cybersecurity solutions. Familiar with concepts such
as defense in depth. Experience with cybersecurity standards and practices in
either the process industries (e. g. IEC 62443, ISO 27001/2) or government
agencies, and certifications from qualified organizations such as (ISC)2 are
a plus.

Working knowledge of:

  • Active Directory Domains
  • Control Network Architectures
  • Firewalls/Switches
  • Protocols (e. g. OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, etc.)
  • Device hardening
  • Operating System Security Policy Definition
  • Procedures for securing control system assets

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
